It’s two months – or two months less a day – to publication of The Four Ms. Bradwells, and almost two months since I posted an All-True Story of How a Novel Gets Published. The good news is my failure to post is not due to lack of thing to post about, but rather to lack of time. And the good excuse for the lack of time (in addition to the holidays) is that the novel I’m writing now – a sequel of sorts to The Wednesday Sisters which I’m writing under contract with Random House – is coming along!
But there is good news on several fronts. Among other things:
- The Four Ms. Bradwells will be coming out as both an audio book!
- It will also be published in a large print edition!
- It will be a Featured Alternate for the Literary Guild !
- It will be a Featured Alternative for the Mystery Guild!
- Doubleday Book Club will be using The Four Ms. Bradwells in their new member promotions!
Well, that was a lot of fireworks all at once, wasn’t it?!
More blurbs and review quotes have come in as well, which will be on a nice rollover on the home page for my redesigned website. Ilsa and I have been working hard together on that. I hope we’ll roll out sometime this week.
Booksellers have been reading The Four Ms. Bradwells, too, and we’ve gotten some lovely feedback from them. That’s always an exciting moment, when people start reading. And booksellers aren’t just any people, they’re among the best in the world.
We’re also finalizing the details for a tour when The Four Ms. Bradwells releases, and I have preliminary dates up on the events page of my website. I’ll be doing a kick-off reading at Kelper’s in Menlo Park, then will fly the next morning to Michigan, for an event at my alma mater (and the alma mater of the Ms. Bradwells!), the University of Michigan. I’ll also be in the Washington D.C. area, North Carolina, Maryland, Ohio, and Indiana. And I’ll be doing events in northern and southern California as well. Several of them will help raise money for good causes, too. Do mark your calendars and come say hi!
I had my first interview about the book the first week in January, and will be taping my friend Fred Klein’s Literary Gumbo show tomorrow.
And perhaps my two favorite words: Book Groups! I’m already getting requests for book group chats. Since this is one of my favorite ways to connect with readers (along with that raising money for good causes thing), I’m thrilled. No doubt I’m forgetting something. I’ll try to do a better job of keeping these posts up to date. But no promises. When I’m working on a new book and the words are flowing, it’s hard to leave that mistress for anyone else. – Meg
