I just learned how to change the URL for my facebook fan page for a really long and ugly string to something short and lovely: facebook.com/novelistmeg
And all the links I have out in the world with the long ugly thing automatically redirect to the new pretty one!
Here’s how you do it for your own fan page. (If you want to know how to set up a page, that’s here.)
1. Sign in to facebook
2. type facebook.com/username in your web browser
3. if you don’t already have a custom url for your personal page, it will pop up a box for you to do so. Just click.
4. you will then be given a page with your new personal page url. It looks something like this:

Choose one of your fan pages if you have more than one.
5. Type your pretty new name in the box and check availability
6. if it’s available, just confirm
