Oh the Places You'll Go (To Write!)

To borrow from the good Dr. S:

Congratulations!
Today is your day.
You’re off to Great Places! You’re writing away!
Mac and I spent five weeks this spring on our second overseas writing adventure. The first, which began just weeks after our nest emptied, was to the English Lake District, where I needed to go to research the setting for a new novel. This second jaunt was to France, where we meant to spend a few hours each day working together on a romantic comedy.
Well, let’s just say I ended up spending more time than I meant to with my mind in the world of that first trip–the English Lake District setting of “The Wednesday Daughters” (which Ballantine will publish in just under a year, on July 23, 2013). Let’s just say Mac is an amazingly supportive spouse.
But we also spent hours walking every day, in Cassis and Aix-en-Provence the first week, and then in Paris for a month. And we did get an oar into the Seine setting of that romantic comedy, and did all the romantic research necessary to write it!
We both find that being in a different environment stimulates our creativity. So we’re starting to wonder where we might go next. I’d love your thoughts on where you’ve had a great writing time, or where you think you might! – Meg
