“The main rule of the writer is never to pity your manuscript. The wastebasket is a writer’s best friend. Mine is on a steady diet.” – Isaac Bashevis Singer, from a long, interesting piece in the March 23, 1975 New York Times
I’m taking that advice to heart as I launch into revisions on The Wednesday Daughters. (Yes, I know there is a preview bound into the paperback of The Four Ms. Bradwells going on sale next month, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t still work to do! Count me among the writers who have been known to revise even after the book is on bookstore shelves.)
I hope you find yourself as thankful as I am this Thanksgiving to be living the writing life. – Meg
