A cool bookstore–in so many ways!
I was just on tour for The Wednesday Daughters, and landed in Tucson, where my mom’s bestie lives. So I got to see Dritha’s “people”–she is an artist (see the photo below)–and to do a reading and signing there at Mostly Books.
Mostly Books is a terrific local store owned by Bobbe Arnett, and in case you don’t know it’s important, they have a little sign near the front urging you to buy local rather than on the internet. The store fits its name–mostly books, but also a great selection of cards, pens, and other things readers and writers love. And Jody organizes author events!
It was hot as the dickens outside the afternoon of my reading, but inside was a cool, book-filled oasis. The booksellers were delightful, and the reading space at the back of the store was perfect.
Sisters in Crime’s Tucson chapter was lovely in helping get the word out. Thanks to them! – Meg
Independent bookstores help new writers find an audience, and keep literature vibrant. If you don’t live near this one, please see the list of others in the sidebar under “Bookstores Worth Browsing.” Don’t see your favorite here yet? Please email me and I’ll do my best to have it featured here.
