Ann Patchett, Richard Russo, John Grisham, Garth Stein and Others Give A Shout-Out to Indie Bookstores!

Today (horray!) is the publication date for My Bookstore: Writers Celebrate Their Favorite Places to Browse, Read, and Shop. Richard Russo kicks off this terrific collection of essays, and the list of authors and the stores they celebrate is an amazing one. I could not be more delighted to be raising a glass to Books Inc. as a part of a nationwide celebration of the independent bookstores and the amazing bookseller who, by their careful reading of new voices, help keep literature vibrant. If you’re local, do join me for a wine and cheese reception at the Palo Alto Books Inc. in Town & Country. If you live elsewhere, do check out the list below and go celebrate with them!
And speaking of celebrations, remember: It’s never too early to start holiday shopping if what you’re buying is books!
I hope to find time to add links to all these stores shortly. And please, if you don’t see your favorite store on the list, tell me about it in the comments. If your favorite is on the list, leave a comment for why you love it! – Meg
