What city can claim more writers per square mile than anywhere else in the world? Oxford, England! (Where I’m posting from today, lucky, me!)
This is home of the Inkings, a writing group that included J.R.R. Tolkein and C.S. Lewis. (I love my writing group – but we bow to that one!) It’s also home of Oxford University, where Wycliff, among others, was educated; I know all about him from reading the books of my best writer-pal, Brenda Rickman Vantrease. So nice to be thinking of her here!
I might settle in for a good write tomorrow with my journal at The Eagle & Child, where the Inklings used to meet. I do travel with it, and have since long before I read Oscar Wilde’s thoughts about that – which I read on the wall of a lovely writing store here today:
“I never travel without my diary. One should always have something sensational to read in the train.”
