The Wednesday Daughters galley pages have arrived!
Is there a nicer time in the process of getting a novel into print than the moment the galley pages arrive? Everyone at your publisher is happy with the book, and would prefer you not make changes (for a change!), but still you can make any change you want.
For anyone who doesn’t know what galley pages are, they are an author’s first look at what the full typeset book looks like. Sometimes called “first pass pages,” they are also, generally, an author’s last chance to make changes. They are printed and bound for advanced reader copies to be sent to reviewers, bookstores, and the like, so you do want the book to be as perfect as possible before it is set. And people at your publisher are combing the pages for typos and the like, which is really nice. That leaves you to sit back with cherry walnut bread fresh from the oven, coffee in your favorite Books Inc. cup (thanks, Margie!), and a red pencil. Heaven! – Meg
