Breakfast for Breast Cancer!

October 9th, 2009 by me

Is there a more fun place to raise awareness for anything than a bookstore? One of the things I’m doing to celebrate Breast Cancer Awareness Month this year is a Breakfast for Breast Cancer in Chicago-area The Bookstore. Three intrepid gals, Elizabeth Lewis, Hanna Olejarska, and Michelle Picchione, walking as The Wednesday Sisters team, raised $6,500 – well over their goal – in the walk last June. And they’re doing it again! Details below. Do join us! – Meg

Dear Friends:

We are really proud to invite you to a special author event onThursday, October 22nd from 10 to 11:30am to benefit the fight against breast cancer. As you may know, October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
We will be hosting a Breakfast for Breast Cancer feauring an appearance by author Meg Waite Clayton, author of The Wednesday Sisters.
It’s a cool story. One of our loyal customers, Elizabeth Lewis, has an Avon 2-Day Walk Team called The Wednesday Sisters (named after one of Elizabeth’s favorite books). When Meg Waite Clayton heard about it, she posted a photo of the team on her own website, along with a link to their Avon Team fundraising website.

Now Meg Waite Clayton will be here in person to support Elizabeth and her team.  Please join us for a fun morning with coffee, snacks, raffles and good conversation.
Meg Waite Clayton is donating signed copies of her first book, The Language of Light, which will be sold at list price, but with all proceeds going to the Wednesday Sisters Team. The Bookstore will donate 100% of the proceeds from all raffle items as well as 10% of all other purchases that morning.
We hope you can join us in our celebration of The Wednesday Sisters Team’s efforts to make a difference in the fight against breast cancer. Bring your mom, your sister, your friends or your book club. Kids are welcome too, no need for a sitter when you’re among friends.
To sign up, please call (630) 469-2891 or e-mail us atjustbook475@yahoo.com.

Thank you for your support!

About 1st BOOKS: Stories of How Writers Get Started

If you think writers are born rather than made and brilliant writing is recognized immediately, those rejection slips for your novel—or story or nonfiction query, or (heaven help you) letter to your own mother—can seem a daunting thing. The truth is getting started as a writer takes hard work, persistence, and a bit of luck.
